At that time I believe he had different amplification, tubes on the mid/tweets and Emotivas on the bass. While I've likely heard Emotivas full range at audio shows I don't remember a specific example. So I shouldn't say too much against them. In fact they may offer good performance per $.

But I expect everyone here realizes that Maggies can be very revealing, so component matching really is important. It is easy to believe he stepped up the performance with the Halco/PSA team.
