On Maggies, the mechanical push-on connectors to the speaker tabs could need to be checked for tightness and can be cleaned to assure a good connection.
The mid-range/bass panel aluminum speaker wires that are attached to the tabs are fragile and easily broken if you take them apart. (Who me?) The little screws that hold everything together are very fiddly too.
Don't mess with any of this unless you are prepared to fix it.
