swap connections first


Get a good *mono* signal, both music and pink noise. Play, and confirm that there is an image offset. I use mono pink noise to help place speakers---there should be zero stereo imaging: only a dot or line which is independent of frequency and volume.

You might also try a sweep (if it's frequency dependent).

Before swapping speakers, try swapping inputs into the pre-amp and swapping outputs post preamp.

That should help isolate if the problem is in the preamp. If the imbalance moves, then it's the preamp. I'd be suspicious of anything with wear items like tubes.

Did you change anything in a computer source? Weird things like computer settings and inadvertent DSP in their drivers or configs can do this, and stuff can change because of background updates occasionally.
