RE: wow that's a bummer

USaudiomart has several UPA-1'S under $400; your looking at about 400w / 4ohm.

I was looking at their Krells and there are several South of $2K but those are the 200w and less group. Anything higher in wattage gets up in the high $2K and up.

Class D's give you a lot of bang for the buck; I bought a pair of Bel Canto M300 mono blocks a few years back for $1100. They pushed my Apogee Duettas quite splendidly.

But it'll most likely be cheaper getting your XPA-1 running. I went on yelp last week and found a guy locally that did a complete overhaul on my vintage Marantz 2238; new dial bulbs, clean the pots and circuit board for $130. He was going to place new capacitors in there as well but he said they'd already been replaced.

Granted these monster Emotivas are a different beast entirely but I'm sure there's folks out there that will service them.

I would look into posing your issue on the fb forum if only to see if others have ran into that issue and possible resolutions.
