That's never happened to me regarding the shut down.
Have you called Emotiva? I called them before some time back and they were pretty helpful.
I remembered I left my UPA-1's on for about a week and their 'blue dial lights' went blinking amber, I looked it up on google and someone mentioned that happens due to voltage leakage (or something like that, it's been years).
If you're on facebook there's a Emotiva forum with a couple thousand members. You might want to run this by them-
