Right at about the same time the "i" revision happened, RTI, the vendor of the white cap used in the original 1.7 was sold to what ultimately was Electrocube. It was most likely a situation where Electrocube with their broadened capability after the acquisition was able to demonstrate a USA made, technically superior cap at a similar price point as an alternative to the True Caps that were used in the original x.7 models that appear to have been replaced with OEM Electrocube caps in the "i" revision.
