I own the Hegel H90 and the LRS, largely based upon the Audio Excellence review. Yes, in my experience, the H90 got super duper hot. When I touched the bottom of the chassis, it was scalding. The amp never entered protection mode. My solution was to buy an AC Infinity component fan on Amazon for $119. It's 17" wide, 1.5" tall, and 12" or so deep. The fan has a variety of temperature specific settings, and is fairly quiet. I don't notice it all during music playback.
The bottom of the Hegel that was once scalding, is now cool to the touch. I have the fan set to kick in a 85 degrees in the "SMART" mode. Works extremely well. Without the AC Infinity fan, I would consider running the H90 that hot as a mistake over the long run.
