RE: Chinese-Made Tube Amps for Magnepan 3.6R

You're so wrong about my background.

Owned panels since mid-80s.....MG-1 and later the 1.6qr, which I still have.

Damping factor is about the last thing to worry about with panels. they respond well to TUBE or Sand amps.
they 'store' very little energy...which you can confirm by viewing some reactance data.

A buddy of mine with a pair of 20s uses tubes on the upper end....but DOES, as I'm certain you'd approve, use a big, powerful SS amp on the bottom. with an active crosover.

Please refrain from mindless namecalling.....

While I now have about 250 4ohm watts per panel, I doubt I make use of more than 5 continuous with 50 watt peaks. Low cutting the panelsabout 50hz, buys me a FEW watts, but not a deal breaker....

A minor exception MIGHT be made for the 20 series and I suspect, the 30 series which are PUSH PULL designs with a pole piece on EITHER side of the diaphragm....
Too much is never enough
