Home Planar Speaker Asylum

keep the maggies if you can, add DSP

The main issue in a smaller room is that the bass gets more uneven and unpredictable. But if you have a subwoofer or 2 and a high quality DSP measuring and correction method, that problem can mostly go away. I use Anthem ARC and it's fantastic, Dirac is also supposed to be good. Avoid the ones on mass market Japanese receivers. (The Anthem as well has great calibrated fletcher-munson correction, Dolby Volume, which is a 100% win to me and perfectly psychoacoustically calibrated).

Honestly after maggies you probably won't be satisfied if you buy another speaker type now. I got a fancy KEF Reference One (outstanding technical measurements) and it's now a bedroom speaker.
