#1 - remember, every $ of mfg cost means at least $5 on the sell price.
Magnepan have stayed in business for over 50 years by watching their costs carefully.
#2 - I doubt that the mfg cost of Mye stands is just $50-$75!
And 1.7s - as you say, "they need power to open up".
If you wanted to keep to tubes ... I suggest you'd need one of EveAnna's creations - say a pair of Manley Snappers or the Neo Classic 250. :-))
Or you use a tube preamp with, say, a Magtech.
