RE: Wrong approach! ...

The pins are not solely responsible for any degradation. It is the number of metal-to-metal joints all the way from the drivers to your amps speaker terminals. A large number of these can be "bypassed" with soldering as you will not remove these an a daily basis. One has to start at the drivers (it is difficult as the covers need to be removed) and work through the signal path. You can also bypass the fuses (if you dare) and the tweeter attenuator link (if you use a resistor - solder it). I would remove all push-on connectors and solder. I think you may need guidance with pictures.
