RE: Thoughts on the 1.7, upgrade amp or XO parts?

I like your idea a lot...but you have to measure the potential upside(Never heard Grant's stands) against the 'chance of injuring the speakers" as remote as it is. As for the base itself you can use all kinds of exotic materials but 3 coats acrylic paint on ply board can be beautiful. I think the upside is worth it. So go for it!
