Hey Branko, You're going in the wrong direction, forget messing with XO parts, stand reinforcements and other crap, you need to get the basics right before all of that.

Maggies offer a lot of music for the money, but they won't start singing unless you are prepared to invest heavily into what's in front of them, and those Hegel + Bada amps come nowhere near what 1.7's need. It's a mistake many (smaller) Maggie owners make, they pay a couple of thousand for Maggies and figure a few thousand for source and amps and they're in audio heaven. Sure, they will play music, but they will never hear how good Maggie's can be. If you can't invest heavily in a decent system then 1.7's were the wrong choice.

Your complaints about lack of body and high frequency glare (trumpet) are typical of poor sources and amps, and no XO mods or stand reinforcements are going to fix that.
