Maybe we audio-freaks need something along the lines of the "Opti-Grab" Steve Martin invented in the movie "The Jerk". Only we would need a hat or harness that held an album cover edge-wise between your eyes extended out towards the speakers. It would act like the pole but instead of having a pole in the middle of your listening area you would just have a silly looking device strapped to your head.
