I couldn't agree more about the 3 series as I've aspired to it for many years. I don't have an issue buying older pre-owned gear. I bought my 1.6s as demos directly from Magnepan through a dealer. Magnepan had used them at two audio shows and they were pristine with full warranty and dressed the way I wanted. I got lucky with those. Buying used maggies can be daunting though. Shipping is very prohibitive and I don't live in an area where they come up too often. I'm also very particular about condition, finish etc.
I guess I was hoping that the advances in the technology since the 1.6s would have brought the LRSs close to what the 1.6s offered.
