Interesting. I've never put carpet in here since I have trouble with dust (allergies, etc.), but it might be worth experimenting with.

I'd expect the main effect of extending the line to be increasing the line to about 2-1/2 times its length (per the white paper), but that would mostly affect low and midbass frequencies. Once the line height is about twice the wavelength, it will beam vertically and there shouldn't be much floor and ceiling reflection, but there are lobes that could reflect and these are frequency dependent.
