My IVa's work beautifully in a Limage setup. It turned out to be the best setup for my room. Of course the IVa's are a bit different, since I split the woofers (small room).
If you weren't getting depth, I'm guessing that they weren't far enough from the front wall? With planars in an untreated room, I've found that depth increases pretty much proportionately as you pull them out.
Wendell also explains that on the tour, he arranges the 30.7's for widest listening area rather than the most precise imaging since he has to accommodate a large number of listeners.
