I would think the cost of shipping (and having to buy new boxes from Magnepan, sent to you so you can ship the speakers to them.. and back..
Plus the repair cost would certainly be way more than the speakers are worth.
No question the repair is not worth the money.
Hell I had some MGII I got for $200. When they started to buzz I put them next to the dumpster. No way was it worth it to me getting them repaired by someone else.
So I suggest they are doing you a favor. LOL
Anyway, yeah buy new speakers.
