I too found that Macs (I should say the MC501s -- only one I tried) did not make the 3.6s or 20.1s come alive nearly as much as Ayre or Audio Research
The Ayre V1xe alone dives them much better (and much more natural sound, staging, timbre), but just doesn't seem to have the deepest bass extension. even 2 of them did not change bass much.
I will likely try the free home trial sometime in fall -- I 'll report back after I do
