If you have the skills, I think the modded MMGs would be better than a stock 12.Well, at least a 1.6 owner who heard my hotrodded mmgs thought the MMgs sounded better than his 1.6s.
One big change you could do with mods is to revert to the old style MMG crossover which are more like the current 12s, and one of the reasons for the differences between stock 12s and mmgs.
Also, the crossover components are pretty lame in any Maggie, and personally I would have a better crossover than a bit bigger driver.
Now a modded 12 that would be the better choice.
