I tried out the CC3 on a stand, hanging from the ceiling, and on a table with my MG 1.6s (front) and MG 10s (rear). Not only did I find it impossible to figure out how to place the bloody thing, the timbre match between the CC3 and the MG 1.6s was off. In pans across the front, you ALWAYS knew when the CC3 came in and it was distracting. I had much better luck with a phantom center. You may have better luck but I advise you to see if you can find a CC3 to try out before you buy one.
