Home Planar Speaker Asylum

Welcome! Need support, you got it. Or share your ideas and experiences.

Moving the speakers as you do does not harm the tweeters.

Vacuuming the socks does, so ask your wife diplomatically if she has ever run the brush attachment over the cloth. Use care if you install the magnetic protection strips before vacuuming, as they like to snap into place and can harm the tweeters themselves.

If one tweeter blew when your wife switched the amp on at full volume, the other might have been wounded. Was it the survivor of the earlier episode that failed recently?

You may well have clipping and not notice it, so your amp is not off the hook.

The fuses only seem to protect the tweeters about half the time; the other half of the time, the tweeters protect the fuses.

Finally, your tweeter may have had a defect in the ribbon that took some time to develop into a fatal break. Consider how these ribbons are made.
