That looks like $700 VERY well spent. Those Maggies are very easy on the eyes; I'm sure they're even easier on the ears.

For what it's worth I purchased a Yamaha C-70 & M-70 combo in 1982 which drove a pair of JBL L112s beautifully. The phono section of the preamp stood up against a Thorens Restek that I was given to demo for a week when I bought my Thorens TD 126 III table. The amp ran hot enough to melt vinyl, but it never gave me a moment's trouble, sounded plenty sweet and had some serious drive.
