I have a Pioneer Elite receiver that's about 5 years old.I just tested it and it's definitely the speaker. I moved it to the other side and it still exhibits the same 'cutting out' behaviour. This time for longer periods, then it comes back to normal.
When the sound cuts out it appears to be the tweeter section because muffled sound does come from the speaker.
If could it be a break in the wire that could be fixed with conductive epoxy?
