check this out, I used a vintage Marantz 1060 int amp (30 watts per channel)on my 1.6's and it sounded marvelous. Never ran hot, never strained.Granted, I kept the volume low and only ran it no more than an hour per session, but it kept up! And here's the kicker: it threw out great bass! (I kid you not).
However, I wouldn't recommend it as a permanent solution (in between amps) and I'm certain a significant amount of damage would've occured through prolonged usage but it sustained me for a couple weeks.
