My IIIAs live in a 27' x 17' room (with a cathedral ceiling) ... so it's quite big. The one time I really had them loud - much louder than i EVER play them when I'm listening by myself - was at a party put on by my daughter.

They didn't melt but I subsequently noticed that a few of the bass panel wires and the mid panel wires were "bent". I don't know whether this party caused that damage (and they still play fine, as the wires are still bonded to the mylar) but I'm wondering if the current flowing through these wires caused them to expand and because they are bonded to the mylar, all they could do in the way of expansion was bend from side to side?

BTW, since 24dB L-R crossovers are defined by their -6dB (half-signal voltage) point, I suggest you should select 60Hz, not 80Hz, for the XO point.
