Not enough power IMHO ..

Dimitry,

I was using ASL Hurricane's in both triode (120 WPC ?) and pentode mode (200 WPC) with 3.6R's. They sounded great BUT not quite enough headroom for me. I switched to a 500 WPC (into 4 ohms) Bryston 4B-SST. What a difference the extra headroom has on music peaks even at moderate volumes! The music is now more "dynamic". Personally, I don't think 50 WPC is enough power for 3.5's or 3.6's and I think you will be dissapointed in moving from 200 WPC amps to 50 WPC amps. I know there are some reading this that use under 120 and under WPC amps on 1.6's, 3.5's and 3.6's and think they sound great. To those I say borrow a higher powered amp from an audiophile friend and TRY it in your sysytem. I think you will be surprised at how much more dynamic (lack of audio compression on peaks) your system will sound.

Bob
