There are two ways to connect your amps: With HORIZONTAL biamping one stereo amplifier handles the two bass channels and another stereo amplifier handles the two tweeters. In this case it may be beneficial to use different amps for each task (say a SS for the bass and a tube for the tweeter). In any case the gain (not necesarily the power) of each amp needs to be matched. If the amplifiers have different gains then the gains can be matched with attenuators usually built into active crossovers.
The other arrangement is VERTICAL where there is one stereo amplifier for each speaker. In this case it is imperative to use identical amps.
