Re: NEED ACOUSTAT PANELS

Regarding the stator mod (connecting all stator wires (per side) together at each end of the panel. Yes I have done this to a number of sets of panels. This is a good mod which works well but it is also a pain to do. This mod lowers the DR of the stator and makes it so the audio charge can cover the stator faster than with the stock configuration of winding up and down across the width of the panel. You need a good exacto knife a fine tip for your soldering iron, fine solder and lots of flux. Most of all you need a steady hand.
The primary function of the 1 ohm resistor that is in series with the low frequency transformer is to prevent the transformer from getting saturated (due to ELF content). Once the transformer core is saturated it tends to stay that way for some time and by the time it stops resonating along comes another dose of very low and sets it off again. A saturated bass transformer core is a serious risk to the health of your amplifier. This is why the resistor is there.
Adding a series 1 ohm resistor to the high frequency transformer is an easy mod to make and listen to. If the idea is to make equal the DCR of the two transformer primary side windings then you would need to measure them both first. Regards Moray James.
