Pro-amps are the poor-man's Bryston. It's not worth getting little power because you do not want to deal with RCA-to-phono adaptors (RS gold platted are $4). It makes a HUGE difference when you feed your maggies with 2x500 "pro" watts compared to let's say 2x150 "hi-fi" watts. The fan can be easily replaced with a low flow/low noise one that you can barely hear. My limited experience showed me that. I'll have pro-amps until the day I can afford Bryston.
