I own the MGSS1, and they do a very good job for surrounds..I have the CC1 center as well, neither of these blends well with my 3.6's for music. However for film, the system kicks butt. Two channel music thru the 3.6's is awesomeIf you intend to listen to multi channel music, I'd go for the newer versions.
I think the SS1's are rated from 180hz to 16khz..The big change in the new versions was a low end down to 80hz
