The hidden cost of maggies is their hunger for more and cleaner power and as you move up the chain the more they demand. To safely drive the 3.6's to loud levels requires about 150% more power than the 1.6's.
Your present amp should be able to drive the 3.6's, but not to the volume levels you can achieve on the 1.6's. If you upgrade speakers and keep your present amp I would be VERY, VERY careful before increasing the volume on your amp past the maximum levels you are presently using.
