If you have hardwood or tile floors, I would keep them up off the floor 8+ inches (depending on seating height) and keep them verticle. Magnepans have very narrow verticle dispersion and this will prevent floor reflections.If you have heavy carpet, tilting them will have the carpet absorb the back wave. On a hard surface, tilted on the floor will create early reflections, causing less precise imaging.
either way, the center of the panel should be pointing at you.
