get your ears as close to the center of the panel verticallyI have tried it all and IMHO here is the order of sound:
1. Vertical with listner's head in middle of panel
2. Tilted with mid panel on angle with listner's head.
3. Vertical with listener's head near top of the panel (does not sound good)
In the old room, I had #1...sounded the best the system ever has.
In the new room, everything was the same, except that my new chair is much higher than the old couch that was 1ft high, but you sunk in about 10 inches.
The sound in the new room/ new chair was very disconcerting. It really kicked my ass and I couldn't figure it out. Then one day, I was on the floor, and the sound improved dramatically!!! Sure enough, sitting on the floor put my head dead center in the panel.
So, I measured and I would need to raise my stand about 15inches higher to get the sound right with the new chair.
I had planned to put them on the wall in my sideways set up, but since I hope to be moving soon, this probably won't be happening.
YMMV, but pick a height that keeps it dead center...or tilt them so they are centered.
