Yes I spent time and have the speakers in the best position possible (At least for this week). I dilaed in the sub first using the Phase control, I turned off the speakers and adjusted the phase to the best position. Then I set it at 40 then brought the gain up till I thought it matched the speakers..Yes It has speaker cable inputs. Its a homemade JBL SUbwoofer with a APEX SR amp its fast deep and sensitive.
I did not try with the gain down. I do agree when I went higher on the frequency it muddy up the speaker bass.
Without the sub the speakers are very defined in the bass, I can head each tone of the lower frequecy's and these go pretty low, I think about 35hz. Thats why I want to dial in at 40 on the controls.
But wanted some other opinions. I might remove the sub form the system and rebuild the cabinet for 20hz. I think I built it to tune at 30
