You're in a small room now with MG12's? I have a fairly small room and tried MG12's. I'm much happier with my MMG's.And here's a serious thought - MC1's with a decent sub like the $500 REL or the $500 Martin Logan (I think it's called the 'Dynamo').
I think about doing that. The speakers have to be closer to the wall, so you can the 2 or 3 feet you're using now to get the floor-standing away from the wall.
PS: No dynamic box speaker is a Magnepan. Although I've often wondered how good the little Martin Logan 'Mosaic' is - it's a planar driver in a cabinet with a stanard woofer that is efficient and doesn't need much room.
