I wouldn't totally discount what the dealer said. No, there probably aren't any major changes to the basic 1.6 design, but manufacturers often change little things here and there and "slipstream" them into production. Things like the MMG crossover change(for better or worse) fit into that category. I have no idea when magnepan started using the tuning pucks on their bass panels, but that might be included too.
