Control of Maggies

IME with MG-20s, in which the bass and midrange sections share one piece of Mylar, and the ribbon tweeter is mounted in the same frame, increasing the amplifier damping factor from very good to outstanding results in better tonal purity, and more precise sound-stage location and stability.

I believe there are out-of-band resonances in all the drivers, and interactions among them, and amplifier damping helps to control them. The large bass panels couple so well to room air that the amplifier also has to control the room air resonances.

I don't believe this is something you can detect without experience on your speakers. Maggies already have superb bass clarity compared to most speakers, but the extra palpability of bass instruments has to be heard to be comprehended.
