Question about LL1544A as phase splitter

I am just about ready to install these and just had a question or 2.
My use of this unit is for phase splitting to a KT88 PP amp. In the 1:1 configuration there is no gain in the signal. If i use 1 : 2 config does that mean i will have a net gain of 2 for the signal? I ask because the amp i will be making has "lowish" sensitivity and a boost in the signal would be beneficial. And if i use the boosted gain will there be a degradation of the overall sound quality of the amp?
2. On the output of this transformer there are 4 connections + , - , CT, and Gnd. I am planning to hook up one channel to +, one channel to - . And Gnd to ground. For my use as a phase splitter is there a connection that i need to make for the CT? thanx in advance, Dak
