Tubes in the digital domain? How about a tube-driven SPDIF? Today we reconfigured the UTS (universal tube output stage)to a cathode follower and installed it at the SPDIF of the Level 3 Morello.
This gave us the best square wave we've ever seen and almost 2x the output voltage. We left the output transformer in place.
First listen: sound is rounder and more substance.
Tubes do digital too!
