Hello all,
Hopefully this is a straight forward question. What controls the amount of power used by each component in a speaker? That is, if I had a 2-way system, what decides the amount of watts sent to the tweeter and woofer. A tweeter generally handles less power than the woofer, so if you are sending 100 watts to a speaker and the woofer is rated at 80 watts RMS and the tweeter 25 watts RMS, what keeps the wattage sending 50 watts to the woofer and 50 to the tweeter? Is it simply a matter of how many watts are needed by each component? Such as the woofer needs an x amount of watts to reproduce the frequencies it is being asked of, and the tweeter needs fewer amounts of watts to do the same?
Thanks in advance
