Zoot Allures. Had the album for years, only the second time it's been on the platter.
Shake it more than once and yer playin' with it.

how an album unplayed for many years not only gets rediscovered but turns out to be a big surprise. That's why I not only play whatever whim hits but have things filed alphabetically and proceed A-Z

I've got them all in alphabetic order, too. And organized by genre.
But I still manage to lose a few now and then. An NHOP album I was sure I had, but couldn't remember if I filed it under "O" for "Orstead" or "P" for "Petersen." Took a couple of weeks to find it.

Does anyone know where my Stones Sticky Fingers LP is? I went to play it the other night, and can't find it. I'm guessing I intentionally misfiled it, likely to avoid zipper pressure on the LP next to it. It probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

I had to settle for plan B, which was listening to Let It Bleed and Some Girls. Still, when my need to satisfy my Can't You Hear Me Knocking jones his, I need to be able to satisfy it. Thank you Mick Taylor.

It's times like this, while wearing reading glasses, a miner's light, and anticipating a sore neck, that I have thoughts of culling some of these 3,000 LPs. Knowing me though, that logic will go away as soon as I finally locate Sticky Fingers.

Good intentions. I know my copy of Exile has a zipper indentation. nt, posted on June 16, 2022 at 11:50:22

...on my Sticky fingers LP, but luckily it never affected playability.

I learned (possibly here on Vinyl Asylum) to keep the zipper down, which moves the pressure point off the grooved area.

Hopefully your Exile is still good to go. And speaking of Exile, in Ghost's Zappa thread, he mentions finding himself enjoying an album which previously didn't impress him too much. I need to give Exile a few more tries. Many Stones fans consider it their best, but I've never been able to agree. I'll have to try it again.

I didn't care for it the first few times I heard it. All their albums from.... , posted on June 18, 2022 at 15:55:36

Beggars thru Exile have been my favorite one time or another. The zipper didn't harm the vinyl.

I found a copy that somebody pulled the zipper out of., posted on June 17, 2022 at 08:46:29

No divot. Lotsa fine scratches though. I'd play-grade it VG.

Although could I do it? Knowing me, no. Not that my cover is pristine or collectable, but still.

Or I could transfer the LP to one of those plain white LP covers I bought forever ago, but I've got to find the record first.

Maybe P for "Pedersen". nt, posted on June 15, 2022 at 15:08:31

...it was indeed under "P" but mis-filed. I had to leaf through all of the "P" albums in order to find it.

You are much more organized than I., posted on June 15, 2022 at 16:09:54
Like Story, I will pull out the album next to the one that I am playing, so I know where to put it back.

But I am really not that bright, as I will pull out multiple albums and put them on the table for refilling once I am done. And then I look at the record shelves and there are half a dozen albums pulled out half an inch, and I have half a dozen on the table, but then I have to figure out where they go all over again. Dohhhh...-.

I'm holding out for a re-shelving machine. , posted on June 15, 2022 at 19:04:19

I love to get them out, but hate to put them away.

At any given time I got forty or fifty waiting to go back on the shelf.

Keep your socks on and one foot on the ground at all times.

Listening to Elvis Costello "My Aim Is True" Wow, never fails to part my hair after all these years.

Pull out the one next to it. When I get new LPs (usually used, but new to me), once they're cleaned and they go on the shelf, I have them sticking out an inch or so in order to make them easy to find.

to pull the one next to it a little bit so it's an easy return
