 Hi to all. I haven't been around here for a few years and had a stroke in February from which I am recovering. I have decided to thin my collection of drivers as I can't lug these big speakers around any more. So my question is where is the best place to sell them? I have le14a's, 123a-3's, a pair of nice Barzaley cabinets, le10's etc.

 Ebay is the last place to sell. Ebay gets 12% of the total sale. Audiogon is my go to place when I want to sell gear. The listing charge is very fair!

 Craigslist in 1/2 hour after listing. A big city (mine is KC) is probably necessary for C L success. The guy brought 20s, btw, and we closed in one hour. Macintosh's are popular!

 Errrr, you failed to mention if you are willing to ship or not. That will determine best place to list speakers.

 Because it's the place where people who sell on E-bay shop. Advertise on Audio Sites and if you must on Ebay. I sold recently a pair of Barzilay cabs on Ebay. After all was said and done I got $200 net and the guy picked them up.

 I have sold numerous speakers, tape decks, records, etc. on CL and have gotten at least as much and sold more often that on eBay. Hard to beat the buyer being able to visibly inspect and pick item up directly.

 Well, I guess it depends what one is selling and where. I laughed at my "cheapskate" friend buying all those big "Christmas tree" receivers some years ago and looking at prices for those nowadays I'm not laughing anymore. Same with idler turntables. I sold cheaply numerous Thorens TD124 and Garrard 301's which came my way over the years because I personally disliked those clunkers and projected my bias on the whole audio community. I was wrong again. Live and learn. Happy Thanksgiving!

 and I have only sold a few things on CL but it appears you are correct if the seller can be patient. I use to sell on ebay, 1k transactions, but lately I've considered it a thing long ago and don't bother

 Return policies and lack of payment options can totally screw you on eBay. All a buyer has to do is claim the item is not as described, and eBay will allow the item to be shipped back at the seller's expense. That's true even if the seller says "returns not accepted" in the description. Then there's the mandate to use Paypal, which is of course owned by eBay. You can't protect yourself by requiring a money oder or cash/check for payment. The bottom line is that eBay is OK if you 're selling something that's cheap, but it's a huge risk to sell anything substantial that you care about.

 in 2020. Still a payment option but not the preferred option as it was in in the past.

 Yes, it's all true and when I complained to Ebay rep the response was that selling on internet always has an element of risk involved and if I'm not willing to accept that risk the game is not for me.
It looks like we will have to pay income taxes from the sales. Still, Ebay has the widest pool of potential buyers and it has little competition if it comes to foreign buyers and only Asians are willing to pay premium for vintage American audio.

 I was recently involved in a scam where a foreign buyer left the item in customs, then filed a claim because he hadn't received it. Paypal refunded him from my account in less than two weeks over my objections, then he went and picked it up. This particular incident happened in Asia, but there are reports of the same thing happening in Europe and GB going back years. Paypal knows the scam, but their only priority is completing transactions and taking customers money.

 Oh yeah - and to add even more injury, Paypal and eBay each charged me a fee for cancelling the transaction. I lost the item, the shipping costs, the buyer's payment, auction fees, and then eBay and Paypal stole from me, too. The total for all this was more than $1,000. These companies are absolute bastards.

 I just sold an HK Citation stack (amp, pre, tuner, & turntable), BIC 6 speakers, and R2R tape stuff on Craigs List 3 weeks ago in Northern VA.

Photos & a good description really helps.
