Ladies and Gents
I need some advise! Just upgraded my amplifier in my main system.Need to let go of either: Yamaha C-6 pre-amp and M-60 amplifier or Sony TA-77ESD pre-amp and 55 ES amplifier.
Both combos have been checked and fixed/upgraded as needed by local tech, who has 30 years experience!the system that I keep will power two Sony SS-M3 bookshelves , with completely rebuild crossovers .
Which system would you keep?
All thoughts and answers are welcome!
Thank you.

Hello.
Thank you to all who answered.
I am keeping the Yamaha combo.
And to the member who suspected that this might be a sale, it is not.
I am donating the Sony combo to a local charity.

Had an M60 for a year or two. Not bad but not great. Ditched it because it had trouble driving a floppy 15 in a BR. Kept going into protection mode. Fine with a stiff 15 or floppy 15 in a closed box.

is stiff is better than floppy. :)

Have you, just for kicks, decided which one sounds best? nt, posted on March 11, 2017 at 02:29:14

As airtime said, that makes good sense.

I never quite understood these types of questions. I could see asking it if I'm interested in both sets of preamps and amps, but have heard neither.

But if I have both birds in hand, what do I care what other people think is the best choice? No accusation toward the original poster, but generally when I see something like this posted, my first thought is that it's a subtle "for sale" ad.

If the Sony obviously sounds better, that ends the debate.

My previous remark applies where both setups sound approx. = in quality. Trying to coerce customers into buying new product, instead of maintaining an existing purchase, gets my hackles up.

Not "Sony, the 1 and only.", but Sony a lot of baloney!

I'd be inclined to keep the Yamaha stuff, as Sony has a terrible record of discontinuing older model support. :>((

Me too on the Yamaha. I just like the sound better.
