Siemens 6922 tubes have date codes beginning with an A; their Cca tubes have date codes beginning with a G.

For example: Date codes A phi 3 7J, October 1967 and A phi 6 OG July 1966. Military grade, made in Germany.

I have a pair of what I believe are Siemens E188cc tubes branded Cca. The date codes don't look like Siemens codes I've seen; there are no phis on either tube.

Can anyone tell me what I have? And what the dates codes mean?

Thank you

I know that 6922 tube date codes are A or A phi and Cca tube codes are G or G phi.

Can anyone tell me what I have? And what the dates codes mean?

Thank you.

Thanks, Joe. This is marginally helpful. Nothing about dates, though., posted on June 10, 2025 at 06:39:10

You're welcome.

It isn't possible to directly tell the decade of production only the year within a decade. Both of the tubes you have pictured are E88CC/6922 (type A in the production code). E188CC/7308 have a G indication in the production code. The tube pictured on the right (A6 0G) is most likely 1980. The tube on the right(A3 hard to tell bottom characters) is earlier production possibly 1977.

I've included a couple of photos of Siemens E188CC from 1978 that I used to have for comparison purposes.

somewhere i read that siemens E88CC/6022/E188CC/Cca with that large getter support and imprinted codes are not true siemens tubes but where made by TUNGSRAM (Hungary) for siemens.

but perhaps this imformation was wrong...

I guess that is possible but if so then they're using Siemens tooling. The other two pictures I'm posting above are from the same sleeve of six that I had. Note the four-seamed top which was a hallmark of both Philips and Siemens. I have seen four-seamed Japanese Matsushita tubes but that was a case where Matsushita bought the tooling from Mullard.
