Is there a universal chart that shows the tube replacement / exchange options for using various type of tube in stereo amplifiers?

a cross reference chart to such would be helpful if such exists.

...I own a stack of them. They are not specific to audio, some give direct subs and some subs that will work but are not optimal. IMHO, you should still try the JJ frame grid 12AX7 BTW. Below is an example:

Seems you/me both appreciate the magic in the JJ frame-grid E83CC.

In fact, now that I think back, you may have been the one the first alerted me to their existence back in January. If it was you, THANKS!!!

What an awesome tube.

I would expand upon viridian's comments-
There are a bunch of Tube manuals out there -
the books produced by tube manufacturers with the specifications for all the tubes that they made, and in the back are the substitution charts-
As mentioned above, some are direct substitutions, others require some understanding of the application to determine the suitability...
RCA
GE
MO Valve
Telefunken
Sylvania
etc. - they all produced these books -
some call them bibles...
