Hi all you audio nuts. I have just opened a Dynaco PasII pre amp, and found Gold Aero tubes marked West Germany. Does anyone know how to identify Telefunken tubes? They do have a diamond in the center on the bottom.

Gold Aero. We used these in an Aerosmith recording studio with Frank Gould as head audio engineer out of Europe many years ago. The tubes were packaged in a clear plastic tube with grey foam inserts and black end caps. I had no idea Gold Aero was still active grading tubes.

If they have the diamond, then they are Teles. I didn't know Gold Aero was still around. They used to just buy tubes and grade them according to specs, pricing accordingly. Jack

The tubes I found in this pre amp could have been installed 40 years ago as far as I know. I bought the pre amp at least ten years ago, and I think this is the last time I looked inside.

BTW: can anyone confirm that very early 12AT7/ECC81 TFKs do NOT wear the typical diamond in bottom? i have a couple of those and they look exactly in every way like the <> coined ones.
