Can I build an amp with any of these?

 I recently ran across the following NOS tubes in my father's basement:
- 2 Taylor T-40s
- 2 RCA 8025As
- 1 Lewis JAN-CYN-3C24
- 2 Sylvania 811s (not "a"s)
- 2 Ken-Rad 826s
- 2 Ken-Rad 832As

Sadly, my father is suffering from Alzheimer's, but I think it would be meaningful to him if I could put them to some good use. I know that they are more geared toward transmitting than audio, but thought I'd check before I look into other, non-audio uses.

 oddly the 811 data sheet shows higher plate dissipation than the 811a.

the only way to use it in audio is positive grid bias so you would need low impedance reasonable power driver direct coupled. Not a newby project.

Hold on the them for a while as the valve world is in turmoil with the Russian conflict. When it settles possibly it may, and sanctions lifted perhaps the Russians will stop playing tit for tat and lift valve export ban. Also Ukrain was price best supplier of Russian valves, may not be any left after the conflict.

Hang tough and youre valves will sell better. A lot of ham's get their replacements from Russia/Ukrain so prices will rocket of youre valves.

 That's good advice. Thanks!

When you say it's not a newby project, do you mean to design and build or to build an existing design? While I'd love to tackle the learning curve to be able to design an amp, I definitely recognize that's not something I am in a position to do. So, I'm hoping to find an existing design and reasonably accessible and affordable parts. It sounds like this isn't the right direction and/or time.

 It's too steep a learning curve to understand enough to even build an existing circuit and parts costs high. The long answer is to big: I'm really sorry. But class A2 operation is like planning to climb Everest when all you're life you've lived in Holland.

 Sounds like selling these and, perhaps, using the funds to build something easier would be in order? Or, are you saying that even that is too difficult for a newby? I've built a few solid state pre-amps and amps. My first job after getting a BSEE was as a controls engineer doing factory controls and automation, so I have some background with high voltages. Perhaps a kit?

 Very sorry to hear about your dad. I was a ham for about 50 years, and I also had a sizable collection of transmitting tubes at one time. Those numbers aren't too common in this hobby, but I'm sure they've all been used at one time or another. There's considerable "prior art" for the 811s.

 Another amp that could be looked at, it's
fairly simple-- Nobu Shishido's Single-Ended
811A amp. Someone could post that schematic.

 Thank you. I think I'll see if I can find a 811 design I can build. It will have to be "newby friendly" and not too expensive. If I can't find such a thing, I'll check into selling them to someone into Ham or donating them to a museum or something.
