In 1990, guitarist Adrian Smith left Iron Maiden. Meanwhile, lead singer Bruce Dickinson came out with a solo album. So when he reconvened with Iron Maiden, Dickinson brought along his solo album guitarist, Janick Gers.

Because 1990 was a new decade, one in which "alternative" music was in vogue, Iron Maiden went for a Black & Blue vibe, on their new album, No Prayer For The Dying. Unfortunately, this just sounded like, pardon my language, shit.

Adrian Smith did have a songwriting credit on "Hooks In You," which thematically continues or expands upon "Charlotte The Harlot," which can be found on their 1980 debut eponymous album.
