USB into DAC, I this has enough horsepower to run DSD @ 128, I will find out. Running headless, LMS controller via tablet.

What do these cost? - Your link says they are no longer available.

My Raspberry Pies have no problem running DSD256, though.

Ah, it is $213 and they sell out quick, I kept an eye on it they make a few at a time.

I didn't realize they sold out, if you follow them on aliexpress you can get the next batch. I bought a quad core i7 from them for my main machine running Ubuntu.

This is impressive with daphile Linux in terms of you can upsample everything even streams to DSD up to 512 if your dac can support that. My DAC goes to 128 DSD as it is an old DAC.

Cool thing it is a LMS server as well so you can point RPi high end configuration with HATS etc, to it. Not bad 4 cores and 8 gb of ram. Intel chipset so friendly to Linux.

I just pay with PayPal so around $220.

My new DAC (Topping D90) will support Native 512 DSD. -- I don't have material past 256 DSD However.

I checked with the Developers of PcP and a Rpi Model 4 with only 2GB of RAM will easily Support LMS Server and Player on the Single Rpi. They indicated to me that this Hardware is still 'Overkill' for PcP, as it has a pretty small footprint.

With not staying orthodox you can upsample everything to DSD up to 512 or hq 32 bit PCM with daphile Linux.

I can upsample to DSD512 in Audirvana on my iMac and stream to my RPi4 running Volumio to my Topping E30. Everybody else has to be off the network and I need to shut everything else on the mac off.

Since that isn't practical I stick to DSD128, and it sounds great with CD quality music that way. I just wish I could selectively upsample only 44.1 or 48. I'd rather let 24/96 and greater be passed through bit perfect. Of course I can manually do this but that is a PITA with a playlist playing. I put a request in with Damien to allow this. He said he'd look into it, but no promises.

you are better being hard wires, this computer I speak of is wireless, so you have to factor that in.

the daphile linux system only works on x86 or x86-64 bit architecture. I've tried audirvana and it is the best one for mac. If you have a spare intel or amd PC check out daphile because that'll do the job.

no, I'm wireless. Even with gigabit wifi though DSD512 taxes the system. My guess it is something other than the wifi though.

I would check out daphile but I'm settled into what I have even though I know there are other things out there. I tried Roon once and didn't like it and went back to Audirvana and Volumio and never looked back. I just keep doing the minor upgrades like the pi4, or new cheap DACs.

It certainly is WiFi on my System... I have dropouts with 192 Khz material on my Wireless units located about 30 feet from my router. Never have dropout with Ethernet.. I also have Gigabit Internet.

Easy way to find out..... Just hook an Ethernet Cable to your Rpi and see if it correct the problem.

I'm good up to DxD, but I just tried DSD512 again, using Audirvana upsampling, and it mostly worked but there were still plenty of dropouts. The start of some songs would play and then stutter. If I stopped it long enough it would then play through, unless I used the Mac or iPhone for something else. Even typing into this forum would make it stutter. I'll stick with 128 as that seems to always work and sounds great anyway. There is no benefit to a higher rate if the source isn't at that high rate.

And I got an email from Audirvana with a coupon for a freebie from NativeDSD for an album recorded at DSD256. The only problem is the website doesn't want to work.

I think when I got into SACD I realized it was DSD 64. DSD 128 is great.
